I'm interested in having high-quality math diagrams on a personal website. I want the quality to be comparable to TikZ, but the workflows are cumbersome and it doesn't integrate with MathJax/KateX. Ideally I would be able to produce the diagrams in JS with KaTeX handling rendering the labels, but this doesn't seem to exist (I'm a software engineer so I'm wondering if I should try to make it...). Nice features also include having the diagram being controllable by JS or animatable, but that's not a requirement. What are other people using? Things I've considered: TikZ options: * TikZ exported to SVG * Writing the TikZ in something else, e.g. I found this library PyTikZ which is old but I could update things to it, that way at least I don't have to wrangle TikZ's horrible syntax much myself. I could theoretically write a JS version of this. * Maybe the same thing, JS -> TikZ, but also run TikZ in WebAssembly so that the whole thing lives in the browser. * Writing TikZ but ... having ChatGPT do it so I don't have to learn to antiquated syntax. Non-TikZ options: * InkScape * JSXGraph, but it isn't very pretty * ??? Thanks for your help!

Looking around hacker news it seems like everyone everywhere has their new AI company whose main goal is to develop some kind of new algorithm and then find customers later. Where do people get funding for such initiatives? I believe I'm a bit naive but it also seems like this could be a better way of doing research for the time being than continuing on in academia. But how do you get money to start a company whose goal is "make AI and worry about customers later"?

We've been working with the Ethereum Foundation & Flashbots to build tooling and infrastructure for developers to test various workflows for Ethereum. As part of that work, anyone can now spin up a local Ethereum dev net with the entire Flashbots mev-boost infra (relayer, builder, boost) using the ethereum-package. This package supports all EL and CL client types, works on Kubernetes for scale testing, and comes with a few bells and whistles like metrics, mock-builders, and beacon chain explorers. Greeting Hackers, I recently acquired a very uncommon PlayStation 1 devkit and I've set about a personal sidequest to write a _very basic_ PSOne game. I've started by prototyping in JavaScript/canvas and am now porting it to C/SDL. Once that's done I aim to port the C code to use the PSX C SDKs. As well as hobbyism, I'm doing this to understand C better and at least grasp the practices of C programmers, even if I end up seldom writing C myself. With that out of the way, what practices are good to internalise working in a C project? - What footguns do you often see beginners trip over? - Do you use prefixes like g_ or p_ for globals / pointers? - What's your "approach" to modularisation in C? Do you prefix non-static function names to mark them as being part of a package? - What are your preferred patterns for ensuring all allocations are eventually freed? - What IDEs do people use for hobbyist C projects? Right now I am editing in VSCode, which is okay, but a little limited - Will I be "okay" in the real world using more "recent" C features like VLAs? Or are these typically proscribed? - Does it generally matter how I do error handling, so long as it isn't setjmp / longjmp? - Are there any tools that will help me avoid many footguns or UB? I am compiling with -Wall -Wextra -Wpedantic, and using "leaks" on MacOS. Any advice from C programmers new or seasoned is a help!

Hey all, I'm currently a solo iOS developer who just released my first app, Timbre, onto the App Store (iPhone only for now). Timbre originally came about because I wanted to build a sleep sounds & sleep tracker app. I had used Headspace, Calm, Pillow, etc. and figured that instead of paying $70 / year I could just build my own app and pay $100 / year (not a great plan in retrospect). As I started building Timbre, I realized that one of the biggest issues I had with these other apps is that I could never really see which sounds genuinely helped me sleep. With that in mind, I pivoted on my original idea and decided to really hone in on connecting sleep quality and sounds. Using a custom ML model, Apple's CoreML framework and HealthKit's sleep stage data, I made it so that Timbre could calculate a personal sleep quality score. Therefore, when you record a sleep session while listening to a sound, the app can rank the sounds you've listened to based on your sleep quality scores over time. Of course, the app also has a smart alarm, offline support, sleep analysis and more, but I'd love to get some feedback & suggestions from the demo video. Code less sounds great for toy projects. People who aren't in tech aren't building no colde solutions beyond basic excel ones. So they end up hiring consultants to build them for them which costs at least 3-10x more if the solution were to be made with code. Ms powerapps for an example needs connector license for many basic things that costs a lot as well. This is from my experience as a consultant in many enterprises over last 3yrs watching code less explode in front my eyes.

It frees you from having to locate the installation directory of Erlang/OTP and its bundled emacs mode. It is an escript that only depends upon Erlang/OTP and Emacs. Note: There is not much in the way of error checking at this moment, but it does make a backup of your .emacs files before any destructive operations.

Hello everyone! I've been working on this project for a few months as part of my thesis in Machine Learning. It's meant to be a library that provides an easy-to-use but flexible API to design and train Diffusion Models. I decided to make it because I wanted to quickly prototype a Diffusion Model but there were no good tools to do it with. I think it really can help people prototype their own Diffusion Models a lot faster and only in a few lines of code. The base idea is to have a Model class that takes different modules corresponding to the different aspects of the Diffusion Model process (noise schedule, noise type, denoising network, loss function, guidance, etc.) and allow the user to mix and match different modules to achieve different results. The library ships with a bunch of prebuilt modules and the plan is to add many more. I also made it super easy to implement your own modules, you just need to extend from one of the base classes available. Contrary to HuggingFace Diffusers, this library is focused on designing and training your own Diffusion Models rather than finetuning pretrained ones (although this is possible). I would really appreciate your feedback.
